The Coronavirus Solidarity Poster & Postcard Project
This collection of 2 posters and 20 postcards was created by Interrupting Criminalization using original art from Cristy Road Carrera and open access artwork generated by Amplifier & Forward Together to help spark conversations around coronavirus, criminalization, public health guidance, and community care.
Our goal is to spark conversations about how we can support each other in staying safe, who the credible messengers for public health messaging and contact tracing are in our communities, what communities need to survive the pandemic, and why criminalization is never the answer when it comes to protecting our communities. The collection is also designed to help us talk about the barriers to wearing masks, engaging in social distance practices and staying home whenever possible, and to catalyze discussion about how we can support each other to overcome them instead of criminalizing non-compliance.
In 2020, we distributed over 15,000 postcards to organizers in over 25 states. We’re not currently shipping more postcards, but you can still order posters below.
Organizations can share images on social media using #COVID19SolidarityCard and #COVIDWithoutCops.
You can also share your answers, strategies, thoughts, and dreams in response to the three example postcard prompts below, and we’ll share out our collective wisdom more broadly!
