Grassroots Fundraising for Organizers

Facilitated by Mariame Kaba

October 11

1 to 4 PM

Pre-Work:

The term "grassroots fundraising" means raising money and contributions of goods and services, mainly from individuals, that you need to work toward your organization or group's goals.

Grassroots fundraising requires face-to-face or digital asking & solicitations, rather than filling out grant application forms. But grassroots fundraising is about more than raising money. It is a way to publicize the work of your organization, build new networks of relationships in the community, get more people actively involved in working to achieve your organization's goals and expand the effectiveness of the organization.

It can add fun to being a part of the organization, help people gain new confidence and skills and insure the long-term vitality of your organization in the community.

This workshop will be facilitated by Mariame Kaba, a long-time organizer and educator who has raised millions of dollars for various groups and organizations over the years from individual donors. Mariame believes strongly that fundraising is actually friendraising and that anyone can become a good fundraiser.

This workshop will be a space to learn some tips and tools for raising money from individuals to support your organizing work.
