Circle Keeping 101

This is a TWO-SESSION workshop and participants must attend both sessions. If you cannot attend BOTH, please DO NOT register.

This experiential training will introduce participants to Restorative Justice concepts, practices, and strategies. Learn how to facilitate circles, and integrate an applied understanding of conflict resolution and mediation principles into restorative justice processes.

The training will incorporate experiential exercises, storytelling rounds, role-plays, and hands-on opportunities to learn and practice: 

  • How to build a good container for any circle using values and guidelines

  • Learning about and practicing consensus building

  • Learning the fundamentals of running circles for any purpose, including community building circles, discussion circles, issues circles

  • Learning mediator skills to apply to any restorative process

  • Exploring your own edges of conflict and discomfort in ways that allow you to be an authentic practitioner

  • Understanding group dynamics and leading groups in restorative ways

What can I expect?

  • Engage in experiential exercises and role-plays

  • Gain practical skills in facilitating restorative circles

  • Learn and practice restorative communication strategies

  • Connect with fellow participants and practitioners committed to restorative practices

Communiversity workshops and classes are open to people 18 years and older. They are not open to people under 18.

Please only register if you are sure to attend as space is limited. In addition, we ask that free slots be reserved for people who cannot afford to make a donation. For those who can donate, please only register for a donation ticket on a sliding scale.

We strive to make this space as inclusive as possible but we are incurring costs to facilitate Communiversity so donations are very much appreciated. Finally, please do not register for other people, only for yourself.
